Dirty fiber that blocks the fiber core generates strong back reflections (Return Loss), and may impact attenuation (Insertion Loss). Therefore, using a right cleaner to clean your fiber connectors is necessay. There are many types cleaners available in the market. In this tutorial, I’ll mainly introduce the PGCLEB1 cassette cleaner.
PGCLEB1 clean box is essential accessory to maintain and guarantee good quality of fiber optic connection.
It is very easy to use. Sliding cover and a new section of cleaning tape will be available. Depress the conector ferrule on the cleaning tape using same pressure as a writing pen. Move the connector from left to right. When cleaning angled polished connectors (APC), be sure to turn the ferrule so that end face is making contact. After completing the cleaning. Dry leaning will generally remove irborne contamination and should be attempted first.Inspect connector endface for contamination after cleaning.
